Okay, so to review: It’s been a while since the last time we posted on the food blog, it was 2016 and we made yet another sandwich. Today will be no different.
Alba Gloriana Villanueva passed her grilled cheese sandwich on to her granddaughter Jane Gloriana Villanueva. Grilled cheese was one of her passions, at age 13, when she promised her Abuela she would remain a virgin until she got married.
Fast-forward to Blake Allen Stilwell sitting in his girlfriend’s kitchen in the middle of Los Angeles, watching this show, trying to decide what to make next. There’s just one problem.
He’s lactose intolerant.
Still, that hasn’t stopped him from eating grilled cheese sandwiches. Ever.
Plus look at Jane and Xiomara when they take bites of this amazing grilled cheese.
This is more of a ratio than an exact amount, which – when it comes to grilled cheese sandwiches – is far preferable to being told what to do.
1/3 white cheddar
1/3 yellow cheddar
1/3 grated American cheese
But how to arrange these cheeses?
Separate with the foldover, or all over the two slices?:
Equal distribution is the key to forming the perfect foundation of the grilled cheese. After that, it’s a matter having the patience to make the sandwich a perfect golden brown, with just the right about a burnt parts.
The trick to that is first and foremost: Butter. But after that, keeping the heat on the pan to a medium flame so you don’t overdo it.
I guess what I’m saying is don’t be so dramatic.
